#NoTeenShame Visuals

As some of you may know I am part of an amazing all former teen mom activist group called #NoTeenShame. We believe all teen parents should be able to parent without shame, stigma, and judgment and we also believe that preventing teenage pregnancy is possible with out disrespecting us and our families.

Here are some wonderful visuals we have made. Please feel free to share them, learn from them, and embody them in your everyday lives.

Almost There

Yesterday I finished my capstone paper, next week I have finals, then I'm done(ish) with my undergrad studies.

I can not believe it.
Nine years of being a student parent will be coming to an end soon. The reality of it is hitting me slowly.

This morning when I dropped Leilani off to school I held her little face in my hands I thanked her. I thanked her for being so patient with me, for taking this journey with me, for understanding that when mommy was working on something and was crabby that it wasn't always directed at her, for motivating me and reminding me to the stay on task and log off of Facebook, for letting me take naps in the middle of the day, and for graciously hearing "not right now, okay" far too many times.

Then I hugged her and told her we are almost done with college.

She smiled and ran up the stairs to school without fully realizing how much she has done for me.

A #NoTeenShame #MamasDay

Teen Moms from the Department of Education's Lyfe Program have more than a few things to say about the way society perceives them and their children. These young women are in school, raising children, and making it WERK everyday! This MamasDay they wanted to tell you all something with a little #NoTeenShame added.

"I believe that I could make a difference"

"People tell me that I am a good person [] who respect all the people.
I love my son and my family
I was born to be a person who believe in one God"

"I believe… that anyone can accomplish their dreams as long as they still dram them."

Awesome #MamasDay Cards for Teen Moms

I hope you all had a wonderful #MamasDay / Mother's Day and that you truly enjoyed it. Leilani wasn't feeling too well and I had to study while watching after her but in a weird way it was perfect because we got to spend time together and I got a bit of studying in.

With that being said I did spend some time online and found some awesome cards specifically for teen and young moms and wanted to share them with you all.

I made this one on Mamas Day website:

I found these one on ICAH's Facebook page

You can see the rest of ICAH's wonderful Mother's Day cards here, click here to learn more about #NoTeenShame, and make your own MamasDay card here.

The end of the semester is almost here which means I will be back to blogging regularly soon!
